Mount Rainier Guided Day Hike

Hike through old‑growth forest and rolling wildflower meadows to reach the breathtaking Glacier Basin, with sweeping views of Mount Rainier and surrounding peaks. Along the hike, you'll learn about Mount Rainier's rich natural history and cultural significance with Koa, a certified wilderness guide.

Distance: About 8.5 miles round trip

Elevation Gain: About 2,200 feet

Itinerary:

• 7 AM: Meet at Charlie's Cafe in Enumclaw. Grab food and/or drinks if needed.

• 7:30 AM: Begin driving to trailhead.

• 8:30 AM: Arrive at the trailhead, get ready to hike.

• 8:45 AM: Begin hiking.

• 9:30 AM: Arrive at Emmons Moraine viewpoint. Snack break.

• 10 AM: Begin hiking to Glacier Basin.

• 12:30 PM: Arrive at Glacier Basin. Lunch break.

• 1:30 PM: Begin hiking back to car.

• 5:00 PM Finish hike and return to cars.

Difficulty Rating:

• Moderate to Strenuous

• No hiking experience is necessary. However, this is an active outdoor experience intended for moderately fit individuals. Participants should be comfortable being on their feet for several hours, hiking multiple miles, and tackling sustained uphill sections at a steady pace.

• National Park Entrance Fee (Day pass: $30 per car. If you are visiting Mount Rainier and other national parks this year we recommend purchasing the "America the Beautiful Pass" which is $80 for the year and grants you unlimited access to all US national parks).
