The Burroughs Mountain hike climbs above tree line into a vast alpine tundra, where rugged ridgelines and wildflowers stretch beneath towering views of Mount Rainier. As you traverse a series of high peaks, the landscape opens to sweeping panoramas of glaciers, valleys, and distant mountains, with an up-close perspective of the Emmons Glacier, the largest glacier in the contiguous US. This is one of the most immersive high-alpine experiences in the Cascades, placing you face-to-face with the raw scale of Mount Rainier. Along the hike, you'll learn about Mount Rainier's natural history and cultural significance with Koa, a certified wilderness guide.
